BALTIMORE, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Nick Markakis socked a two-run homer and Matt Wieters added a pair of RBI Saturday in the Baltimore Orioles' 8-4 win over Tampa Bay.

Jeremy Guthrie (9-13) got the victory, allowing only two runs on six hits over seven frames and the Orioles won for the fifth time in eight games, handing manager Buck Showalter his 900th career triumph.

Tampa Bay, meanwhile, fell 2 1/2 games behind the New York Yankees in the American League East with the setback.

Matt Joyce clubbed a solo home run and added an RBI double in the defeat.

Rays starter James Shields (13-12) surrendered six runs and eight hits in just 4 1/3 innings.
