Roethlisberger suspension cut to 4 games

NEW YORK, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has officially had his NFL suspension reduced to four games, the league said Friday.

Roethlisberger, who could have missed as many as six games, will be eligible to practice and play after the team's Oct. 3 game against Baltimore. The quarterback has already participated in training camp and exhibitions.

The first game he'll be eligible for is Oct. 17 at home against Cleveland.

He was suspended in April for violations of the NFL's personal conduct policy. Roethlisberger was accused of sexual assault at a Georgia nightclub but charges were never filed.

Roethlisberger, who is entering his seventh NFL season, has helped Pittsburgh to two Super Bowl championships and was a Pro Bowl selection after the 2007 season.
