CLEVELAND, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Phil Dawson kicked a 36-yard field goal as time expired Thursday to give the Cleveland Browns a 13-10 preseason decision over Chicago.
Cleveland rookie Colt McCoy, who won more games than any other college quarterback in NCAA history while at Texas, completed all 13 of his passes for 131 yards.
Brett Ratliff was quarterbacking the Browns, however, when they drove from their own 48 to the Chicago 18 in seven plays to set up the winning field goal. The final drive began when the Browns blocked a Chicago punt.
Montario Hardesty scored on a 1-yard run for the Browns in the first period, but left the game with an injured left knee.
Chicago's Todd Collins was 10-of-15 for 139 yards and a touchdown. Cleveland wound up 2-2 during the pre-season and Chicago went 0-4.
The Browns begin the regular season at Tampa Bay. The Bears open at home against Detroit.
