KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 1 (UPI) -- A wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth brought Willie Bloomquist home with the winning run Tuesday in the Kansas City Royals' 10-9 victory over Texas.

Bloomquist, who entered the game as a pinch-runner for Wilson Betemit, raced home when Alexi Ogando unleashed a wild pitch with two outs.

Darren Oliver (1-2) took the loss after giving up a lead-off double to Betemit, one of 13 hits banged out by the Royals.

Yuniesky Betancourt had a solo home run for Kansas City. Alex Gordon went 5-for-2 with three RBI.

Joakim Soria (1-2) pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up the win.

The Rangers had home runs from Vladimir Guerrero, Michael Young, David Murphy and Mitch Moreland.

A five-run fifth inning put Kansas City ahead 9-6 but the Rangers stormed back with three runs in the top of the sixth to tie the score.
