Former NBA player Orlando Woolridge arrested for theft

NEW YORK, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Nick Swisher, Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixeira all homered Tuesday, powering the New York Yankees to a 9-3 victory over Oakland.
Swisher's two-run blast put the Yanks up 5-1 in the third inning. Granderson belted a solo shot in the fourth and Teixeira followed later in the frame with a three-run homer to pace New York to its fourth straight victory.
Phil Hughes (16-6) allowed two runs on four hits in a five-inning start to pick up the win.
Chad Gaudin limited the A's to one run over three innings of relief for the Yankees, who moved into first place in the American League East by a game over Tampa Bay.
Oakland starter Vin Mazzaro (6-7) lasted only 3 2/3 innings, yielding nine runs (seven earned) on seven hits.
