MLB: New York Yankees 11, Oakland 5

NEW YORK, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano each homered and had three hits Monday, powering the New York Yankees to an 11-5 win over Oakland.

Nick Swisher chipped in with a 3-for-4 night, collecting three RBI, and Marcus Thames bashed a three-run homer for the Yanks, who remained tied with Tampa Bay atop the American League East with the victory.

New York's Dustin Moseley yielded four runs in 4 1/3 innings but former starter Javier Vazquez (10-9) was able to pick up the win in relief, surrendering just one run the rest of the way.

A's starter Trevor Cahill (14-6) was pounded for eight runs on nine hits in just four frames.
