
CHICAGO, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Carlos Zambrano continued his successful return to the Chicago rotation Monday, helping the Cubs pound Pittsburgh 14-2.
Zambrano (6-6) hurled 5 1/3 innings, allowing one unearned run on four hits and four walks while fanning seven. He is 3-0 in five starts since being put back in the starting rotation following a June suspension.
Aramis Ramirez led an 18-hit Cubs attack, delivering four RBI, while Marlon Byrd and Jeff Baker each had two hits, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs for Chicago.
Pirates starter Paul Maholm (7-13) came into the game with a 7-1 career mark against the Cubs but was lit up this time for eight runs on nine hits and a walk over 3 1/3 innings.
Pittsburgh dropped its 14th straight road contest.
