MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre says he received an injection in his injured left ankle after Saturday's exhibition game.
Favre told Sports Illustrated the injection of lubricants into the ankle was "like a grease fitting," SI.com reported Monday.
The signal-caller's ankle has been operated on three times. The latest surgery came May 22 when orthopedist Dr. James Andrews removed loose bodies from the joint.
"They took out a cup full of stuff -- bone and all these other loose bodies," Favre said Saturday.
When asked if he thought he could last a whole season, he replied: "I don't know. I have no idea, really."
Favre told SI his ankle was hurting long before last season's NFC Championship Game against the New Orleans Saints.
"It was bad before then," he said. "Now we'll see if I can make it. My mind's telling me one thing, but my body's telling me something else."
