COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Defender Zach Loyd cleared the ball away from the goal line in the 68th minute Saturday to preserve FC Dallas' 0-0 draw with Columbus.

Loyd's goal line play on Guillermo Barros Schelotto was one of several fine defensive moments for Dallas (9-2-10), which extended its road unbeaten run to 10 games and its overall unbeaten streak to 12.

Another came in the 10th minute when Dallas goalie Kevin Hartman misplayed a long free kick by Schelotto and Atiba Harris was able to block a shot from Crew defender Chad Marshall from inside the box.

Columbus (12-5-5) used the draw to extend its lead in the Eastern Conference to seven points over second-place Red Bull New York.
