TORONTO, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Brandon Morrow struck out nine in six innings and Jose Bautista smacked a two-run triple Saturday in the Toronto Blue Jays' 5-4 win over Detroit.
Morrow (10-6) yielded only one run on four hits, walking one while raising his record to 5-0 in his last seven starts. The Toronto right-hander has fanned 63 batters in the 43-inning span.
The Blue Jays, however, had to hang on for the win in the ninth after building a 5-1 lead. Scott Downs allowed a run on a bases-loaded groundout and Kevin Gregg surrendered a two-run double to Casper Wells that allowed the Tigers to get to within one run.
But Gregg picked up his 30th save by fanning Ramon Santiago to end the game, handing Toronto its second win in a four-game series at Rogers Center.
Bautista's first-inning triple put the Blue Jays ahead for good and Travis Snider went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the victors.
Tigers starter Alfredo Figaro (0-2) was touched for five runs on eight hits over five innings.
