Francesco Molinari leads brother by 1

AUCHTERARDER, Scotland, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Francesco Molinari's 4-under 68 gave him a one-shot lead over brother Edoardo Saturday after three rounds of the Johnnie Walker Championship in Scotland.

Francesco's performance allowed him to finish 54 holes at 10-under 206, while the elder Molinari, who won this year's Scottish Open, carded a 3-under 69, finishing one back at minus-9 at Gleneagles.

Julien Guerrier (73), who was the co-leader at the end of two rounds, fell to third place, where he was tied with Oliver Wilson (68), Gregory Bourdy (70), Stephen Gallacher (71) and Simon Dyson (70) at minus-eight.

While Francesco Molinari has already clinched a spot on the European Ryder Cup team, a Gleneagles win by Edoardo could make him the top candidate for a captain's pick by Colin Montgomerie.

A victory by Dyson, meanwhile, could clinch a Ryder's Cup spot for him on points.
