PARAMUS, N.J., Aug. 26 (UPI) -- U.S. golfer Tiger Woods shot his best round of the year Thursday at The Barclays in New Jersey, three days after his divorce from Elin Nordegren was finalized.
Woods shot a 6-under 65 Thursday in his first round at the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, sharing the lead with Ryan Palmer and Vaughn Taylor, the North Jersey Record reported.
When asked if this was his best round of the year, Woods answered, "Absolutely."
"It's exciting to hit the ball flush like this. It's something I've been missing all year," Woods said.
Woods has struggled on the course this season, entering nine tournaments and winning none of them.
Earlier this month he posted the worst performance of his career as a professional at the Bridgestone Invitational, finishing 18-over par.
