Mangold to sign $55 million deal with Jets

NEW YORK, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- All-pro center Nick Mangold is expected to sign a $55 million contact with the New York Jets, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.

The deal, which will cover seven seasons and is to include $24 million in guaranteed money, would make Mangold the highest-paid center in the NFL.

Mangold has started every game for the Jets since being selected with the 29th overall pick in the 2006 draft. The Ohio State product was named to the Pro Bowl the last two seasons.

The Jets have yet to sign holdout cornerback Darrelle Revis, who is the Daily News said is seeking to become the league's best-paid player at his position. The newspaper reported previously the Jets had offered Revis $120 million over 10 years.
