SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Aubrey Huff went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs and Matt Cain tossed eight solid innings Monday in the San Francisco Giants' 11-2 rout of Cincinnati.
Huff's two-run double in the first inning triggered a five-run uprising that put the Giants ahead for good. He added a solo homer in the eighth as San Francisco took the first of a three-game series against the Reds.
Pablo Sandoval added three hits and drove in three for the Giants.
Cain (10-10) held Cincinnati to two runs on five hits, fanning seven and walking only one to notch his first victory since Aug. 1.
Reds starter Edinson Volquez (3-2) didn't make it out of the first inning, yielding five runs on five hits before being pulled.
Cincinnati -- which saw its National League Central lead over second-place St. Louis dwindle to 2 1/2 games -- lost Laynce Nix to a sprained ankle and Jim Edmonds to a strained oblique muscle in the costly defeat.
