CLEVELAND, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Gio Gonzalez hurled seven shutout innings and the Oakland Athletics pounded three homers Tuesday in their 5-0 whitewash of Cleveland.

Gonzalez (11-8) baffled the Indians on five hits, walking one and striking out seven, running his scoreless streak against Cleveland to 20 2/3 innings in three wins against the Tribe this season.

Coco Crisp homered, went 3-for-5 and scored a pair of runs and Jack Cust and Jeff Larish each added round-trippers for the A's, who took the first of a three-game set at Progressive Field.

Indians starter Fausto Carmona (11-12) was touched for four runs on nine hits in 6 2/3 innings.
