Former NBA player Orlando Woolridge arrested for theft
TORONTO, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Mark Teixeira, Marcus Thames and Jorge Posada all blasted third-inning homers Tuesday and the New York Yankees pounded Toronto 11-5.
The three long balls were part of a five-home run barrage by the Yankees. Curtis Granderson homered among his three hits and Derek Jeter also went deep as New York evened its three-game series with the Blue Jays at a win apiece.
Teixeira and Posada each ended the night 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Thames chipped in with three hits and a pair of RBI as the Yankees lashed 17 hits.
New York entered the game tied with Tampa Bay atop the American League East standings.
Dustin Moseley (4-2) collected the win, limiting the Blue Jays to two runs on five hits over six innings.
Toronto starter Marc Rzepczynski (1-2) was racked for six runs on eight hits in a three-inning start.
Vernon Wells and Adam Lind each collected two hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Blue Jays.
