Rain forces Rogers Cup postponement

MONTREAL, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- A steady rain throughout the day and Saturday evening forced the postponement of the Rogers Cup women's tennis semifinal matches.

Both matches were rescheduled to Sunday.

Second-seeded Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark was leading 11th-seeded Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova 2-0 at 9 p.m. when play was called for the night. The pair were to resume their match at 11 a.m. Sunday in Montreal.

The other semifinal between No. 8 seed and Wimbledon runner-up Vera Zvonareva of Russia and 10th-seeded Victoria Azarenka of Belarus will start at the same time, with the final set for 3 p.m.
