MLS: New York 4, Toronto 1

TORONTO, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Rafael Marquez got New York off to a fast start with his first MLS goal Saturday and the Red Bulls went on to clobber Toronto 4-1.

Marquez put New York up 1-0 in the 35th minute when he scored on a twisting, 25-yard shot into the top-right corner -- his first goal since joining New York from Barcelona.

An own goal five minutes later gave the Red Bulls a two-goal lead at halftime, and after Dwayne De Rosario cut New York's lead to 2-1 in the 49th minute, Juan Pablo Angel connected a penalty kick after a handball by Toronto's Nana Attakora in the 61st.

Carl Robinson closed out the scoring for New York (10-7-3) in the 78th minute.

Toronto (7-8-5) lost for the first time at home since June 6, 2009, a span of 17 MLS games stretching across two seasons.
