BALTIMORE, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- C.J. Wilson pitched into the ninth inning Friday and the Texas Rangers halted a four-game losing streak with a 2-0 decision over Baltimore.
Wilson (12-5) struck out a career-best 12 and gave up three hits over 8 2/3 innings. He walked only one.
Baltimore had not had a base runner since the third inning when Brian Roberts opened the ninth with a double. Wilson retired the next two batters, with Roberts moving to third on a ground out by Felix Pie, but Neftali Feliz came on to get the final out and collect his 30th save.
Wilson was trying for the first shutout of his six-year career.
Mitch Moreland hit the third home run of his rookie season in the second inning and Josh Hamilton drove in a run with a single in the seventh, his first hit in four games.
Baltimore had defeated Texas in their previous five meetings.
Jake Arrieta (4-5) suffered the hard-luck loss, allowing only one earned run on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings.
