ATLANTA, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Mike Morse and Willie Harris homered Thursday and four Washington relievers teamed to throw 3 2/3 hitless innings, helping the Nationals beat Atlanta 6-2.
Washington won for just the third time in 11 contests and avoided a sweep of the three-game series.
Morse hit a solo homer in the second to put the Nationals in front for good and Harris delivered a two-run blast in the ninth.
Ian Desmond contributed an RBI single in the third and Washington scored twice in the sixth on a run-scoring double by Roger Bernadina and an RBI base hit by Ryan Zimmerman.
The win went to John Lannan (5-5), who gave up two runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. He has won his last three starts.
Joel Peralta, Tyler Clippard, Sean Burnett and Drew Storen combined to blank the Braves the rest of the way.
Atlanta had a four-game winning streak snapped. Derek Lowe (11-11) surrendered four runs on six hits in seven innings to take the loss.
