CHICAGO, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Calen Carr scored shortly after making his season debut as a late substitute Wednesday, lifting the Chicago Fire to a 2-1 victory over New England.
Carr had been out since October with an injury and he came into the game in the 69th minute.
He controlled a pass at the top of the penalty area, beat Darrius Barnes and then fired a shot that went through the legs of defender Emmanuel Osei. The ball sailed just inside the near post in the 85th minute, improving Chicago to 6-5-6.
New England (6-10-3) had an eight-game unbeaten streak snapped. It was the Revolution's first loss since a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Real Salt Lake July 2.
Marko Perovic gave New England a first-half lead, but Baggio Husidic tied it by seizing on a deflection and easily scoring from 6 yards out.
