BALTIMORE, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Matt Tuiasosopo had the game's key hit and biggest defensive play Wednesday in helping Seattle edge Baltimore 6-5.

Tuiasosopo put the Mariners in front for good with a three-run homer in the second, giving Seattle a start toward its seventh win in 10 games.

Ichiro Suzuki had an RBI double in the fifth and Chone Figgins added a sacrifice fly later in the inning to give the Mariners a three-run cushion.

Baltimore faced a 6-4 deficit heading into the bottom of the eighth, but picked up a run on a wild pitch and had a runner on second with two away when Matt Wieters drove a ball to left field.

Tuiasosopo, however, made a spectacular diving catch to keep the run from scoring.

Baltimore again put the tying run on second with one away in the ninth before David Aardsma worked out of the jam to record his 24th save.

Aardsma preserved the win for starter David Pauley (2-4), who allowed four runs on five hits in six innings. Pauley had collected his first major league victory in his previous start Friday in Cleveland.

Jeremy Guthrie (7-12) was touched for six runs on eight hits over eight innings to suffer the loss.
