CARSON, Calif., Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Goalkeeper Zach Thornton deflected a shot by Seattle's Osvaldo Alonso 2 minutes from time Saturday to preserve a 0-0 tie between Chivas USA and the Sounders FC.

Seattle (8-8-5) ran its unbeaten streak to six games but had a four-game winning streak snapped. Fredy Montero had a personal streak snapped – it was the first time in his last nine games that Montero did not come up with a goal or an assist.

The tie leaves Chivas USA (5-10-4) in last place in the Western Conference.
