MLS: Salt Lake 2, Columbus 0

SANDY, Utah, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Javier Morales scored twice Saturday, allowing Real Salt Lake to run its home unbeaten streak to 21 games with a 2-0 victory over Columbus.

Salt Lake is within two games of equaling the MLS home unbeaten record set by Columbus during the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

It was the 11th victory of the season for Salt Lake, which remained four points behind Los Angeles for first place in the Western Conference.

Fabian Espindola fielded a corner kick and sent it to Morales in the 11th minute. Morales then drove the ball off the far post and into the net.

Morales' second goal came on a free kick in the 60th minute, running his total to six for the season.

Despite the setback, Columbus maintained a six-point lead over second-place New York in the Eastern Conference.
