MLB: San Diego 4, Pittsburgh 1

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Ryan Ludwick hit two solo home runs Tuesday to lead the San Diego Padres past Pittsburgh 4-1.

Ludwick went 2-for-3 batting cleanup for the Padres, who have won two in a row.

Wade LeBlanc (6-10) allowed five hits and struck out eight in 5 2/3 innings. He drove in a run with a single in the second inning.

Heath Bell picked up his 32nd save.

Jeff Karstens (2-8) took the loss for the Pirates, whose losing streak reached five games. Pedro Alvarez drove in the only Pittsburgh run in the third inning.

Ludwick's first home run led off the second inning. It was followed up by LeBlanc's base hit that scored Yorvit Torrealba from third.

San Diego went ahead 3-1 in the seventh on Ludwick's second home run and added its fourth run in the eighth on a run on a run-scoring single by Jerry Hairston.
