ANAHEIM, Calif., Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Bobby Abreu smashed a long homer in the 10th inning Wednesday to lift the Los Angeles Angels to a 2-1 victory over Kansas City.

Abreu connected on a one-out delivery from Jesse Chavez (1-1), belting it deep into the right-center field stands to hand Los Angeles a three-game sweep of the Royals at Angels Stadium.

The blast made a winner of Brian Fuentes (4-1), who tossed a scoreless top of the 10th to earn the victory.

Angels starter Jered Weaver shut Kansas City down on one run over eight innings, fanning 11 while allowing six hits and walking two.

Zack Greinke matched Weaver frame-for-frame, also yielding one run on six hits over eight innings, walking one and striking out six.

Yuniesky Betancourt accounted for the Royals' only run with a sixth-inning home run.
