CHICAGO, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- John Danks was dominant over eight innings Wednesday and the Chicago White Sox moved into a share of the division lead with a 6-1 win over Minnesota.
Danks (13-8) allowed a run on six hits while striking out seven. He had suffered a loss and a no decision in his previous two starts after winning four in a row.
Carlos Quentin got things going with a two-run homer in the second, Alex Rios had an RBI single in the third and Chicago tacked on three in the fifth. Minnesota surrendered two unearned runs.
The Twins had moved in front in the American League Central with a 12-6 win over Chicago Tuesday, but the White Sox jumped back into a tie for the top spot by halting a three-game losing streak. The teams will conclude a three-game series Thursday and will meet three more times next week in Minnesota.
Glen Perkins (0-1) took the loss, surrendering all six runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings. Perkins was recalled to replace Kevin Slowey in the starting rotation after Slowey developed elbow problems. It was the first major league start for Perkins in more than a year.
