HOUSTON, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Brooks Conrad blasted a two-run homer in the ninth inning Tuesday, sparking the Atlanta Braves to a 4-2 comeback victory.
With Atlanta trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth, Alex Gonzalez led off with a single off Matt Lindstrom (2-3) and Conrad -- who had entered the game to replace an injured Chipper Jones -- followed with a 400-foot shot to right to put the Braves in front.
Troy Glaus added a solo shot two outs later and Atlanta used the win to pull 2 1/2 games in front of the second-place Phillies in the National League East.
Jones was injured while fielding a ground ball and was diagnosed with a sprained knee. The Braves said he would be flown to Atlanta where an MRI exam would be performed Thursday.
Jonny Venters (4-0) was credited with the victory after getting the final out of the eighth inning. Billy Wagner tossed a scoreless ninth to secure his 28th save.
Braves starter Jair Jurrjens allowed one earned run in 7 1/3 innings.
Chris Johnson went 3-for-4 for the Astros.
