MLB: Arizona 2, Milwaukee 1

MILWAUKEE, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Miguel Montero's tie-breaking solo home run in the eighth inning carried the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 2-1 win over Milwaukee Tuesday.

Montero led off the inning by sending the first pitch from Chris Capuano (1-2) into the center field stands for his fifth home run of the season.

The blast broke a 1-1 tie and put Blaine Boyer (3-2) on the road to the win. Boyer held the Brewers at bay over the seventh and eighth innings and Sam Demel earned his first Major League save despite giving up two hits in the ninth.

Justin Upton drove in Arizona's other run in the fifth inning to tie the score 1-1.

Alcides Escobar drove in Milwaukee's lone run with a second-inning home run to give the Brewers a 1-0 lead.
