BALTIMORE, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Brian Roberts blasted a 10th-inning home run Monday, sending the Baltimore Orioles to a 3-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox.
Roberts led off the 10th against J.J. Putz (5-3) and greeted him by pulling a long shot deep into the right field stands. His first homer of the year boosted the Orioles to their third win in a four-game series with the White Sox at Camden Yards.
Ty Wigginton collected two hits and RBI for Baltimore.
Matt Albers (4-3) earned the victory after working out of a two-on, two-out jam in the top of 10th when third baseman Josh Bell made a great fielding play on a Carlos Quentin grounder.
Paul Konerko homered in the ninth off O's closer Aldredo Simon to tie the score 2-2 and send it into extra innings.
The setback dropped the White Sox into a first-place tie with the idle Minnesota Twins atop the American League Central.
