CHICAGO, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Chicago Cubs pitcher Carlos Silva underwent a successful cardiac procedure Monday to correct an abnormal heart rate, the team said.
Silva was released from Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago after the 2-hour radio frequency catheter ablation procedure, which was performed by Dr. Bradley Knight.

The veteran right-hander was pulled from an Aug. 1 game after experiencing a rapid heartbeat, which was diagnosed as paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia.
The Cubs said they expect Silva will resume throwing next week. He remains on the 15-day disabled list.
Silva has compiled a 10-5 record with a 3.92 earned run average in 20 starts this season for the Cubs.
