LOS ANGELES, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Ted Lilly won his second straight start with Los Angeles and Jamey Carroll went 3-for-3 Sunday to pace the Dodgers to an 8-3 win over Washington.
Lilly (5-8) followed up his stellar debut after being obtained by the Dodgers in a July 31 trade with another good performance Sunday, limiting the Nationals to three runs on five hits over six innings, walking none and striking out six.
Carroll drove in a pair of runs on a first-inning single, capping a four-run Dodgers uprising, and Reed Johnson put the game out of reach with a two-run single in the eighth as Los Angeles took the rubber match of a three-game series at Dodger Stadium.
Jason Marquis (0-4) absorbed the loss for Washington, allowing five runs (two earned) on five hits in four innings of work.
