SEATTLE, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Bruce Chen held Seattle to a Russell Branyan homer in seven innings Saturday and Kansas City went on to a 2-1 win.

Gregor Blanco drove in what turned out to be the winning run with a second-inning groundout..

Bruce Chen (7-5) allowed only two otherr Mariners hits, didn't walk any batters and struck out four.

Seattle's David Pauley (0-4) let two Royals score on a five-hit, three-walk performance that lasted 5 1/3 innings. Pauley is winless in 18 career games (10 starts).
