ATLANTA, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- David Ross smacked a two-run homer and Omar Infante added a solo shot Sunday to pace the Atlanta Braves to a 6-3 victory over San Francisco.
Ross' blast came in the second inning, staking Atlanta to a lead it wouldn't surrender, and Infante's round-tripper in the fourth made it 4-1, sparking the first-place Braves to a 2-1 lead in their four-game series with San Francisco.
Melky Cabrera went 3-for-5 with a run driven in and Alex Gonzalez and Brooks Conrad each added two hits and an RBI in the win, which enabled Atlanta to maintain a 1 1/2-game lead over Philadelphia in the National League East.
Derek Lowe (11-9) collected the victory, yielding two runs on five hits in five-plus innings. Four Braves relievers combined to hold the Giants to one run the rest of the way, with Takashi Saito picking up his first save of the year.
Jonathan Sanchez (8-7) absorbed the loss for the Giants, who fell two games behind San Diego atop the NL West standings.
Travis Ishikawa homered among his two hits for San Francisco.
