PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Johan Santana baffled the Phillies for seven-plus shutout innings Saturday and the New York Mets edged Philadelphia 1-0.
Santana (9-6) allowed five hits in 7 1/3 innings, yielding three walks and striking out six to rebound from the worst start of his career in his previous appearance in Philadelphia, an 11-5 defeat in May.
Francisco Rodriguez hurled the final 1 2/3 innings to notch his 24th save and snap the Phillies' 11-game home winning streak.
Jeff Francoeur drove in the game's only run with a seventh-inning homer off Cole Hamels (7-8), who struck out 11 Mets in seven innings of work.
The Phillies fell two games behind Atlanta in the National League East with the setback.
