BALTIMORE, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Adam Jones singled in Nick Markakis from third with two out in the 10th inning Friday, giving the Baltimore Orioles a 2-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox.
The Orioles, owners of the worst record in the major leagues, won their fourth straight. They are unbeaten since Manager Buck Showalter took over the club Tuesday.
Tony Pena (3-2) came out to work his third inning of relief for the White Sox and retired the first batter in the 10th. Markakis, however, singled to right and, one out later, went to third on a base hit by Luke Scott.
Jones then punched the ball through the left side of the infield to bring home the winning run.
Alfredo Simon (3-2) pitched both the ninth and 10th innings to get the victory.
Starter Brad Bergesen allowed a run on five hits with five strikeouts in seven innings for the Orioles.
John Danks went seven innings for the White Sox, throwing 120 pitches and giving up a run on six hits.
Ty Wigginton singled in a run for Baltimore in the first and Gordon Beckham tied it with a homer for the Sox in the third.
The White Sox had won nine of their 11 previous games.
