DETROIT, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Mark Kotsay tripled in two runs in the 11th inning Thursday, giving the Chicago White Sox a 6-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

Detroit's Ryan Raburn had forced extra innings with a two-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth.

But Brent Lillibridge and Andruw Jones reached on one-out singles in the White Sox 11th. Kotsay followed with his first triple since 2008, chasing home the winning runs and making Jose Valverde (1-3), who gave up all three hits, the loser.

Sergio Santos (1-0) picked up his first major-league win with two innings of one-hit relief.

Chicago grabbed a 2-0 lead in the fifth when Alexei Ramirez scored on a wild pitch and Juan Pierre singled in the other run. Don Kelly made it 2-1 with a seventh-inning home run for Detroit but Kotsay hit a two-run home run in the ninth for a 4-1 White Sox edge.

Don Kelly singled and Ramon Santiago was hit by a pitch prior to Raburn's home run to left that made the score 4-4.
