BALTIMORE, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Cesar Izturis singled in Julio Lugo from third with one out in the ninth inning Thursday, giving the Baltimore Orioles a 5-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Baltimore swept a three-game series and remained unbeaten during the three-game tenure of Manager Buck Showalter.

The Angels lost for the 11th time in 14 contests and dropped two games below .500.

Baltimore let a four-run lead get away in the eighth, thanks chiefly to a three-run homer by Torii Hunter, but the Orioles came through in the ninth against Francisco Rodriguez (0-3).

Matt Wieters was the first batter Rodriguez faced and he hit an 0-1 pitch to left-center for a double. Lugo came on to run for Wieters and moved to third on a sacrifice by Corey Patterson.

That brought up Izturis, who took the first two pitches for balls and then fouled off three in a row before delivering his single through a drawn-in infield.

The game was scoreless into the sixth before Nick Markakis hit a solo homer for Baltimore. Felix Pie singled in another run in the inning and the Orioles scored twice more in the seventh -- Markakis driving in one of the runs with a single.

Jason Berken (3-2) was called to the mound with two on and two out in the Los Angeles eighth and gave up the homer to Hunter. Berken then struck out Hideki Matsui to end the eighth and worked his way around a one-out single in the ninth to get the win.
