Li advances to Danish Open quarterfinals

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Second-seeded Li Na rolled through a second-round victory Wednesday at the Danish Open tennis tournament.

Li topped Elena Baltacha 6-3, 6-2 without dropping serve. She lost 14 points on serve but only three in the second set. Li placed 75 percent of her first serves and won 74 percent of the points on serve in the match.

Fifth-seeded Julia Goerges also advanced to Friday's quarterfinals in straight sets, ousting Kristina Barrois 6-2, 6-2. She had Barrois on the defensive throughout the match, forcing 16 break-point situations and finishing off four of them.

No. 7-seeded Klara Zakopalova needed just 58 minutes to dispatch Tatjana Malek 6-0, 6-3. She lost only three points on serve in establishing control in the first set.

Eighth-seeded Angelique Kerber beat Sandra Zahlavova 6-4, 6-2 despite losing her serve four times.

The first round wrapped up Wednesday with Anna Lapushchenkova upsetting fourth-seeded Tsvetana Pironkova 6-4, 6-1 and qualifier Anna Chakvetadze taking out Johanna Larsson 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).
