MLB: San Diego 10, Los Angeles Dodgers 5

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Chase Headley and Will Venable each hit a three-run homer Monday and the San Diego Padres beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-5.

Headley had four hits for the first-place Padres, who handed LA its sixth straight loss and ran their NL Western division lead over the fourth-place Dodgers to nine games.

Yorvit Torrealba went 3-for-5 and ran his hitting streak to 15 games.

Padres starter Clayton Richard (9-5) went 5 1/3 innings, giving up four runs on 10 hits with six strikeouts and three walks to get the win.

Dodgers starter Hiroki Kuroda (8-10) went four innings, giving up five runs to get the loss. Jeff Weaver pitched four innings in relief for LA , giving up five runs.

The Dodgers managed 14 hits -- including five by Matt Kemp, whose double and home run were the only extra-base hits for LA. Kemp finished with three RBI.
