ATLANTA, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Jeff Francoeur belted a tie-breaking homer in the ninth inning Tuesday and the New York Mets edged Atlanta 3-2.
Leading off the ninth for New York, the former Brave got hold of a pitch from Atlanta closer Billy Wagner (5-2) and lined an opposite-field shot into the right field stands, enabling the Mets to even their three-game series with the Braves at a game apiece.

Luis Castillo had two hits and scored a run for New York and Manny Acosta (2-1) got credit for the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Francisco Rodriguez picked up his 23rd save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Melky Cabrera hit a two-run triple for the NL East-leading Braves.
