MLB: Detroit 7, Chi. W. Sox 1 (2nd game)

DETROIT, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Johnny Damon got three hits and drove in a pair of runs Tuesday to spark Detroit to a 7-1 win over the Chicago White Sox in the second game of a doubleheader.

Damon hit a run-scoring double during a four-run Tigers uprising in the second inning and added an RBI groundout in the eighth and Brennan Boesch drove in a pair for Detroit, which split a day-night doubleheader with the White Sox.

Jeremy Bonderman (6-6) went 6 2/3 innings to get the victory for the Tigers, allowing one run on five hits, walking one and striking out five.

Carlos Torres (0-1) made his first start of the year for the White Sox after being recalled from the minors. He surrendered five runs on nine hits over six frames.
