BOSTON, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- The Boston Bruins and top draft pick Tyler Seguin have agreed on an entry-level contract, General Manager Peter Chiarelli said Tuesday.
Seguin, chosen by the Bruins with the second overall pick in the 2010 NHL Draft, will have a base salary of $900,000 plus $2.85 million in performance bonuses, The Boston Globe reported.
"We felt it was time to sign Tyler," Chiarelli told the newspaper. "He's a high pick. He performed well in our development camp. We thought it was time to sign him to give him peace of mind and make him feel part of the organization."
Seguin, 18, was in St. John's, Newfoundland, where Hockey Canada's national junior team development camp was set to start Wednesday.
There he's seeking to make the Canadian world junior roster for the first time, the Globe reported.
