Tseng wins 3rd major with British Open

SOUTHPORT, England, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Yani Tseng's 5-footer for par on the final hole Sunday lifted her past Katherine Hull for the championship of the Women's British Open.

Tseng shot a 1-over 73 in the final round, but her 11-under 277 was still good enough to nail down her third major championship title and fourth overall win.

The British Open title made Tseng, 21, the youngest golfer -- male or female -- in the modern era with three major championship titles. She had also notched victories in the 2008 LPGA Championship and the Kraft Nabisco Championship this year.

Hull fired a 2-under 70 to take second place at minus-10.

Following her were Na Yeon Choi (68) and In-Kyung Kim (71) in third place at 7-under 281. Cristie Kerr shot a 2-under 70 to forge a fifth-place tie at minus-6 with Amy Yang (68) and Hee Kyung Seo (70).
