Former NBA player Orlando Woolridge arrested for theft
TORONTO, July 31 (UPI) -- Josh Tomlin and three relievers shut Toronto down on five hits Saturday, boosting the Cleveland Indians to a 2-1 decision over the Blue Jays.
Rookie Tomlin made a surprise start -- only his second career appearance -- on three days rest after the Indians traded scheduled starter Jake Westbrook to the Cardinals. He responded by tossing 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball.
The victory went to Jensen Lewis (3-2), who worked out of a sixth-inning jam that saw Toronto's Jose Bautista thrown out at second base after straying too far off the bag following Vernon Wells' single.
Joe Smith tossed 1 2/3 scoreless frames and Carlos Perez racked up his 11th save despite loading the bases with one out in the ninth.
Shin Soo-Choo drove in the go-ahead run with a seventh-inning RBI single for Cleveland.
Blue Jays reliever Brian Tallet (1-4) took the loss for allowing Choo's hit.
