SAN FRANCISCO, July 29 (UPI) -- Anibal Sanchez pitched a one-hitter, allowing only three runners to reach base Thursday, in a 5-0 Florida Marlins victory over the San Francisco Giants.
Sanchez (8-6) struck out eight. He retired the first 13 Giants batters before Juan Uribe reached on an error by Jorge Cantu in the fifth. Pablo Sandoval followed with a base hit to center but Sanchez got the next two batters out.
Sanchez walked Aubrey Huff to open the seventh but enticed Buster Posey to ground into a double play. No other Giants reached base.
The Marlins got to San Francisco starter Madison Bumgarner (4-3) for three runs and six hits in six innings and Joe Martinez allowed two other runs in two innings of relief.
Mike Stanton doubled in Dan Uggla in the second inning for the first Florida run and Cantu scored on a Stanton double in the fourth ahead of a Ronny Paulino sacrifice fly that made the score 3-0.
Florida finished the scoring in the eighth with a run-scoring double by Cody Ross and another Paulino sacrifice fly.
