DENVER, July 29 (UPI) -- Dexter Fowler keyed a 15-hit attack Thursday that carried Colorado to a 9-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates and ended an eight-game Rockies losing streak.

Fowler, the Colorado lead-off hitter, had three hits, scored two runs and knocked in two others. Clint Barnes had two hits and three RBI and was among the eight Rockies who scored runs.

Rockies starter Ubaldo Jimenez collected his major-league best 16th victory against three losses. He allowed four hits and one run while walking three and striking out six in seven innings.

Pittsburgh got its run and half its hits off Jimenez in the first when Garrett Jones doubled in Jose Tabata, who had singled.

Colorado answered quickly off the Pirates' Paul Maholm (6-9), who ended up allowing eight runs and 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings. Carlos Gonzalez tied the score with a first-inning home run. The Rockies struck for four runs in the second with Fowler doubling in two runs and Barnes following with a two-run single.

Miguel Olivo singled in a run in the fifth and Barnes singled in Fowler and scored himself in the sixth to make the score 8-1.

Brad Hawpe, hitting for Jimenez, homered in the seventh. Pittsburgh got a two-run home run from Neil Walker in the eighth.
