Dawson, the sole player elected this year to join the Hall's 293 inductees, wore the uniform of the Montreal Expos into the shrine. Dawson, a power hitting outfielder, made it on his ninth try, earning 77.9 percent of the vote, MLB.com reported.

Nicknamed "Hawk," Dawson had 438 homers and 1,591 RBIs for the Expos, Cubs, Red Sox and Marlins in a 20-year career from 1976-1996.

Herzog, 78, is best remembered as the manager of the St. Louis Cardinals. In his 10 years at the helm in St. Louis, he guided the team to the 1982 World Series title and National League pennants in 1985 and 1987.

Umpire Harvey, 80, attended the ceremonies despite recent ill health. He umpired 4,673 games in 31 years in the big leagues, MLB.com said.

Ravens' Kindle hospitalized in Texas

BALTIMORE, July 25 (UPI) -- Baltimore Ravens first overall draft pick Sergio Kindle has been hospitalized, the team said Sunday, reportedly with a head injury.

A statement released by the Ravens said the linebacker was in stable condition and was being treated at University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin, Texas.

"Members of our medical staff, including Bill Tessendorf and Dr. Andy Tucker, have spoken with doctors in Texas. We understand Sergio is stable at this time, and that he is being tested and observed," Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome said.

Little was known about the circumstances surrounding Kindle's injuries, but The Baltimore Sun reported "it is believed" the rookie suffered a head injury after falling down two flights of stairs in a house he was visiting Thursday night in Austin.

Kindle was the Ravens' first overall pick in the second round in April's draft. He was to report to McDaniel College with Baltimore's other rookies Monday when the team's training camp starts.

Dixon logs controversial Edmonton Indy win

EDMONTON, Alberta, July 25 (UPI) -- Scott Dixon emerged with a victory at the Honda Indy Edmonton Sunday after a controversy-filled finish in which Helios Castroneves was penalized.

Although Castroneves came across the finish line first, he forfeited the win after being penalized for blocking Penske Racing teammate Will Power following the final restart with four laps to go.

Dixon zoomed past Power to take second just before they crossed the finish line and Indy Racing League official Brian Barnhart immediately charged Castroneves with blocking and issued him a drive-through penalty.

Following the race, Castroneves, who ended up in 10th place, scuffled with IRL officials.

Points leader Power was awarded second and Dixon's Target Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Dario Franchitti claimed third place.

Ryan Briscoe was fourth and Ryan Hunter-Reay completed the Top 5.

Ganassi's Jamie McMurray won the Brickyard 400 NASCAR race earlier Sunday.
