MIAMI, July 25 (UPI) -- Wes Helms delivered a run-scoring single in the 11th inning Sunday, delivering the Florida Marlins a 5-4 decision over Atlanta.
After the Marlins escaped a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the top of the inning, Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla led off the bottom of the frame with singles.
Jesse Chavez (2-2) intentionally walked Cody Ross to load the bases and Helms grounded a single, scoring Ramirez with the game-winner and handing the Marlins a victory in the rubber match of a three-game series with the Braves, who hold sway atop the National League East.
Helms also hit a two-run triple and Brad Davis chipped in with two hits and an RBI.
The rally made a winner of Jorge Sosa (2-2), who tossed two scoreless innings despite allowing three hits, and enabled Florida to finish a 10-game homestand with a 7-3 mark.
Eric Hinske homered and collected two hits for the Braves.
