Former NBA player Orlando Woolridge arrested for theft

OAKLAND, Calif., July 24 (UPI) -- The Oakland Athletics put starting pitcher Ben Sheets on the disabled list Saturday with a strained pitching elbow.
Sheets, who has compiled a 4-9 record with a 4.53 ERA for Oakland this year, was rumored to be on the trading block. The right-hander has logged 20 starts for the A's after signing with the team as a free agent following a 2009 campaign that he missed because of injury.
Sheets, who pitched for the Milwaukee Brewers from 2001-08, was put on the DL retroactive to July 20. It marks the seventh time in his career he has been shelved with an injury.
The A's recalled pitcher Cedrick Bowers from Class AAA Sacramento to take Sheets' place on the roster.
